Just to let you all know, I've gone through the entire database and now cleaned out any existing members who are linked with 'forum spam' (Checked via the stopforumspam database). Over the past a few members have slipped through the net, but we now run a secure registration process where no spammers are allowed, so hopefully after this clean up we have a nice orderly database of members!
